Spring is here and we’ve had a refresh at the Hub! We’ve got lovely new seating, including some very comfortable tub chairs, plus a new and improved menu! We hope all our customers love our new layout. And with the sunshine now firmly here (hopefully to stay!) our patio is fully in action, with parasols for those warm days. We love to run family events at Melbourn Hub and on Easter Monday we ran an “Easter Eggstravaganza”! Starting with an Easter egg hunt around our lovely village, families then came back to the Hub for more Easter fun, including a tombola and craft station. We were then joined by none other than the Easter bunny, who gave out eggs to the children and then watched them do their Easter bonnet parade. In December we ran our annual customer survey. This is a really important way of gathering feedback from all our customers on how we are doing, what you like about the Hub and what we can do to improve. On Saturday 27 September, South Cambridgeshire Integrated Neighbourhood Development Team, in partnership with the Melbourn Hub and Meridian Primary Care Network, launched our new cervical screening programme with a women’s health and wellbeing day at Melbourn Hub. We are inviting women registered to participating GP practices, who are overdue or have never had their cervical screening, and may struggle to access their screening at their GP surgery, to come along to one of our clinics at Melbourn Hub over the next 6 months. Over the summer, Melbourn Hub Library ran a summer art challenge – ‘my favourite story character’. The children were challenged to draw their favourite story character. A further challenge was to draw their character in nature such as the seaside, the woods, the garden or the riverside. They could use felt tips, colouring in pencils, wax crayons, paints or collage to bring colour to their pictures. Melbourn Hub was thrilled to be nominated for a BBC Radio Cambridgeshire ‘Make a Difference’ award this year! There were eight categories and the Hub was nominated in the ‘community’ category, which is award to “an individual or a group of people who have helped to genuinely change the lives of others within their community”. There were more than 300 nominations for the awards and the Hub was both amazed and proud to find itself in the final four in its group!
