A new year at the Hub

After a much-needed Christmas break for our wonderful staff and volunteers, we were delighted to open our doors again on 3rd January and welcome back our customers.

January was a very busy month and it has been great to see so many of you using the Hub, whether that be our cafe, meeting rooms, library or attending one of our events.

Highlights so far

We were particularly thrilled to be able to host our very first NHS ‘Health and Wellbeing day’ in January, where we worked with our NHS colleagues to offer Covid vaccines, childhood immunisation checks and catch-up immunisations and free health checks and MOTs. The event was a huge success, with 161 school aged children vaccinated, 180 Covid vaccinations and 17 flu vaccinations given and 13 people receiving a full NHS Health Check or MOT.

We’ll be running more of these this year – with the next ones coming up on Sunday 12th February and Sunday 5th March.

Coming up

There’s lots going on in February and March too! Alongside our regular events like our monthly Carers Cafe and Menopause Cafe, we have some very special one-off events to look out for too. Like our  Nixnox pop up shop on Saturday 25th February, our ‘Meet the Author’ evening  with Lucy Lewis on 9th March and our Festival of Stories event on 11th March. We’re also launching a new monthly lunch club on 22nd February, providing an opportunity for people to come and meet new people, while enjoying a delicious two-course meal. For more detail on our events, visit the Events section of our website.

And last but not least, we’re very excited to shortly be welcoming some new artists to the Hub, starting with Beth Pyle, who will be exhibiting her acrylic paintings from 13th February until the end of March.

All in all then, lots going on as ever, and we thank all of our fantastic customers for the support they give us and for making Melbourn Hub the warm and welcoming place it is.

See you soon!
