The young people of Melbourn and its surrounding villages are some of our most important customers! We love to see everyone enjoying all the Hub has to offer and are the proud hosts of a range of one-off events and ongoing services specifically for children and young people.
In May we were delighted to host local folk duo, Megson, who put on a very special concert for our little “music connoisseurs”. Aimed at 0 to 8-year olds, it was a complete sell-out, and everyone enjoyed a very happy hour of dancing and singing!
Then in June, it was the turn of our older kids, when we hosted a fantastic DJ Workshop! Hosted by Quest Music Services, the event offered a ‘taster’ opportunity in advance of regular free evening weekly sessions to be held at the Pavilion on The Moor from the end of August onwards. Anyone who is interested should contact Jay Coulman at jasoncoulman@hotmail.co.uk.
In July, we hosted several Work Experience placements for students from Melbourn Village College, as well as three twelve-week Duke of Edinburgh placements to support students to qualify for the volunteering segment of their Bronze awards.
We also offer a weekly children’s story-time session for under 5s. A free event, this offers the chance for little ones to come and hear some stories and sing some nursery rhymes, and is always well attended.
And of course our library offers a fantastic resource for the children – and adults – of Melbourn and the surrounding area. It’s free to join and only takes a minute, so if you’re not already a member, why not pop along and sign up!
We welcome your feedback on other ideas for how we can support our young people, whatever their age!
