Well another busy month at the Hub with our calendar of activities and entertainment with something for everyone hopefully.
We began with a Mother’s day Sunday lunch on the 11th offering a choice of tasty roasts with all the trimmings, tempting home-made puddings and a selection of wines and beers. Each mum received a little boxed gift and we were thrilled to receive such lovely feedback about the food and the service.
On Sunday 18th the Hub Atrium was transformed into a dark and eery mock stately home for a performance of ghost stories by M.R. James – the acclaimed author of chilling tales. Robert Lloyd Parry brought his popular performance of “Oh Whistle” to the Hub and the audience were spellbound by the dramatic and chilling delivery. The audience could steady their nerves with a drink from the bar provided!
The following weekend was a bumper one with a fun quiz night and bar on Saturday 24th run by Melbourn Amateur Dramatics at the Hub to raise funds for performance equipment and on Sunday morning 25th the Hub was host to ‘Weezi’s onesie walk’ to raise funds for MNDA, the charity working to defeat Motor Neurone Disease. The walk was the idea of local primary schoolgirl Eloise who was affected by the death from the disease of a family friend and many people bought tickets to walk along the Cambridge road in their onesies to raise much needed funds. The Hub served cake and drinks for the walkers upon their return and a raffle was held with a number of prizes including a voucher donated by the Hub for a meal for two at the bookmark café in the Hub.
The Hub is now working on the next exciting events that we have in store– watch this space!
